From Humble Beginnings to Oil Tycoon

Phillips started his career in the oil industry as a bookkeeper in a small oil company in his hometown. Phillips also played a key role in the development of the Bartlesville Municipal Airport, which was later renamed the Frank Phillips Field in his honor.

Beyond his business success, Phillips was also a generous philanthropist. He established the Frank Phillips Foundation, which supported various educational, medical, and cultural institutions. Phillips also donated land for the construction of the Woolaroc Museum and Wildlife Preserve, which is now a popular tourist destination.

Frank Phillips died in 1950, but his legacy continues to live on. Phillips Petroleum remained a major player in the oil industry until its merger with Conoco in 2002. Today, the combined company, ConocoPhillips, is one of the largest integrated energy companies in the world.
