Yona of the Dawn is the story of Princess Yona, the sole heir to the Kingdom of Kouka. Yona lives a carefree life in the castle, protected by her childhood friend and bodyguard, Hak. However, on her 16th birthday, everything changes when her cousin, Soo-won, murders her father and takes the throne. Yona and Hak are forced to flee the castle and embark on a journey to find allies and reclaim the kingdom.

Along the way, Yona meets a group of loyal companions, including the four legendary dragons of Kouka. Each dragon has a unique ability that helps Yona on her quest. For example, Kija the White Dragon can control water, Shin-ah the Blue Dragon can control wind, Jae-ha the Green Dragon can control earth, and Zeno the Yellow Dragon can control fire.

As Yona and her companions travel, they learn more about the history of Kouka and the reasons behind Soo-won's betrayal. They also face many challenges, including battles with Soo-won's forces, natural disasters, and political intrigue.
