Synopsis
Friday Was the Bomb is a gripping historical thriller based on a true story of atomic espionage and international intrigue. Set against the backdrop of the Cold War, the novel follows a young woman who risks everything to uncover a deadly secret.
In the aftermath of World War II, the United States and the Soviet Union are locked in a tense standoff. The threat of nuclear war hangs heavy in the air, and both sides are desperate to gain an advantage.
Enter Helen Kroger, a brilliant young physicist who works at the top-secret Los Alamos National Laboratory. Helen is tasked with developing a new type of nuclear weapon, one that is more powerful and destructive than anything that has come before.
As Helen delves deeper into her research, she begins to suspect that something is not right. She uncovers evidence of a mole within the laboratory, someone who is leaking secrets to the Soviets. Determined to stop the traitor, Helen launches her own investigation.
But the stakes are high, and Helen soon finds herself in over her head. She is pursued by both the FBI and the KGB, and she must use all of her wits to stay alive. As she gets closer to the truth, Helen realizes that the traitor is someone she never would have suspected.
