From Georgia to the Harlem Renaissance

Born in Columbus, Georgia, in 1895, Eugene Bullard left home at a young age to pursue his dreams in the vibrant streets of New York City. During the Harlem Renaissance, he made a name for himself as a skilled boxer, earning the nickname "The Chocolate Kid." Bullard fought against some of the best in his weight class, including Jack Dempsey and Harry Greb.
